Number bonds to 10

A number bond splits a whole into two parts. Learn the pairs that make 10.

  1. A whole and two parts

    The whole is 10. One part is 6. The other part is 4.

  2. Learn the pairs

    1 and 9, 2 and 8, 3 and 7, 4 and 6, 5 and 5.

  3. Find the missing part

    Know the whole and one part? Take the part away from 10 to find the other.

  1. 7 and ? make 10

    10 − 7 = 3. So 7 and 3 make 10.

    Answer: 3
  2. 2 and ? make 10

    10 − 2 = 8. So 2 and 8 make 10.
