Teen numbers

A teen number is one ten and some ones. 14 is 1 ten and 4 ones.

Step 1

Learn it

  1. Start with a ten

    Every teen number has one ten. Put down one rod.

  2. Add the ones

    Add 4 cubes. Now you have 1 ten and 4 ones.

  3. Say it

    That is 14. The 1 is the ten. The 4 is the ones.

  1. How many are shown?

    1 ten is 10. Plus 6 ones is 16.

    Answer: 16
  2. 10 + 9 = ?

    1 ten and 9 ones is 19.

    Answer: 19
